Yet another chapter that I liked reading more than most of the previous Mars Chronicle ones. Unye is kinda... cute? I wish she'd ease off with all the licking, though. And for some reason I really like her hairpin!
Thanks once again, god Yukito is sure taking his time on the release date, interesting cliffhanger I wonder how everything will make sense down the line. I'm not liking Erica's character development so far she is starting to become extremely grating for me to tolerate. We'll see if he can give a big pay off for this build up. the pacing remains me of steins;gate in a way how the first half is extremely slow
Thanks for the episode.
Interesting, there are quite a few of dutch surnames, this arc. Jantzen (Jansen, one of the most common names in the Netherlands), Hendricks, Haferkamp (Haverkamp) and ofcourse Musters map of Mars.
That panel impressed me too. It was most definately not a casual move but a well trained technique. It reminded me a lot of Figure 4's anticyborg technique.
I'm guessing the girl is not a connection to panzer kunst...full flesh martial artist, mentally challenged...no clue, but not a kunstler connection I bet. Mars is a tough place at this point. Maybe...someone taught her something or she has a natural talent...Kaufman and his affects don't look like any kunstler we've seen.
Erica. It is interesting that YK wanted to hammer home the idea that Erica is immoral. Smart, vulnerable and self sufficient while yoko has really just been a prop thus far. I guess I have been surprised...we are introduced to her as an innocent in Last Order 1, Frau X mid Zott is a bad guy, on into the Mars chronicles. We find out that Yoko killed her at some point before the Camlan tragedy, with no other explantion. Little Erica is almost immediately identified as killing her parents. In spite of all we know; Erica's actions don't evoke full on victimhood...as she becomes into Muster's disciple of evil.
I guess from Mars Chronicle on, Erica has just been about Red Herrings...she wasn't sweet and innocent turned into Frau X for whatever reason. It's fun.

well in chapter 7 of Mars Chronicles Yoko mention and I quote: "Erica... We've met after so long. In the end, you haven't changed at all." This statement imply Erica is always similar to her Frau X persona from what I can tell.
Not the greatest subversion but I'll bite. Steins;gate made a better character development twist, as the main character act like a goofy and purely comedic character and it completely changes his character on the second half with explanation on why it happen a lot of people find that character direction for unexpected and many agree it was a character change for the better.

the series slow pace story and slow pace release date isn't helping itself to go faster at the moment
Last month was released the first Brazilian edition of Last Order, two volumes were released at the same time with each one corresponding to two volumes of LO, so after rereading those old stories, despite I don't like the Tipharean arch very much, I think that now the story is nothing but a shadow of that once it was.

You didn't enjoy last order first arc that much, very surprise to hear that, I enjoyed it quite a lot, from Nova talking to Jim about fate, and being born I found very philosophical and thought provoking on what Nova was trying to say and showing his human side which give him layers, and also the first chapter of LO gave us a flashback with Erica which I enjoyed a lot and seeing how Alita's reaction when she found out Lou's fate and willing to make a dark deal with Nova, which of course he was joking but the length she will go through to help Lou show Alita isn't perfectly heroic, giving that nuance I can respect. That's just my thoughts anyway. Who knows maybe Mars Chronicle could be like steins;gate from being slow (not bad per se) to being more thrilling
So is Frau Yoko. A cold blooded murdering terrorist who deliberately causes the death of 400.000 persons. And so, it looks like, is all the Panzer Kunst faction.
Anyway the Kaufmann is a full bodied cyborg. He could still be a kunstler incognito.

No, I didn't like Jim Roscoe and his friends nor the fight with Sachumodo. I prefer the setup of the discarded original ending, like when Alita destroys the suicide machine and how Lou was careless about the brain chip swap of the Thiphareans (I didn't like Lou's death). I found the new setup a bit cheesy, but it had its moments.

While I liked most of LO, I gotta agree with you here - the beginning of LO was pretty weak when compared with the original ending of Gunnm. And I strongly disliked Sachumodo, Jim & co.

What do we have to show for ourselves?
