Berserk never misses his deadline so it returned as promised, only ending was for it this time. The art feeling cartoony, I think it might be though I could be wrong, but I think it is due to it having a more digital feel, giving it a more glossy or sleek feeling to it, rather than a rough edge feel like when his before has a more hand drawn feeling to it.Silvery wrote: Thu Feb 04, 2021 11:22 am Well, seems like it hasn't returned yet after all, haha. (What about Berserk?)
But yeah, I would never drop the series. Gunnm was the first manga series I fell in love with - Gunnm and LO are still among my top favourites - and I've been following Gally's adventures since the first series was published in my country (2003). Hell, I remember learning how to use IRCS programs a bit just to be able to download chapters of Last Order and Trigun (both only started getting published here last year, and for a long time I wasn't able to afford importing the official English editions).
Re: art - yeah, it does look like an improvement, though I'd still like him to return to his early LO style. Mars Chronicle looks too cartoony for me.

Re: There we go again.... 37?
No unfortunately, as his video mentioned January which was weird, your best bet could be on February 9th (aka Evening issue 5), as I will let this forum know if that was the case no promises though, as it just an educated guess on my part
Re: There we go again.... 37?
The Berserk part was a joke, what with both series being, well, somewhat problematic release-wise.00_unit wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 3:18 amBerserk never misses his deadline so it returned as promised, only ending was for it this time. Nope, I don't mean traditional vs. digital. Over the years Kishiro's style has evolved to be more cartoony. I wouldn't say his art has ever had a rough edge to it (when I think of manga whose style has a rough edge to it, I think of, say, Jujutsu Kaisen or Dorohedoro); it's just that it used to be very detailed, but over the years he simplified his style. When you compare Gunnm and LO, it's almost as if they were drawn by two artists, but when you compare the beginning and the end of LO, you'll notice a noticeable difference as well. And in Mars Chronicle he's been going even futher with this. Simplified style aside, I'm not a huge fan of so much slapsticky emoting.
Re: There we go again.... 37?
Torture... No news about the movie sequel, no news about new chapters...
Re: There we go again.... 37?
Still no news ?
Re: There we go again.... 37?
Nope recently checked evening issue no.6 2021 (22/2/2021) and the series is still officially declared absent. Seems like the author has had an unforeseen circumstance (or possibly a major writer's block) that seem to be happening atm. So far he's been absent for 6 months but hey who's keeping count, it's going as slow as drifters though not as slow as terra formars.
Re: There we go again.... 37?
Proposed ending:
The knustlers kill everyone on the fallen starship village, get yoko and erika and trains them. End flashback
In present time:
Caella is dead, live with it
Supernova can do s*** about the necrosoldiers, live with it
No one knows who Daisen is, Gally can't do s*** about it. Live with it.
Therefore Daisen wins.
Mars stay a mess.
Gally has something better to do and goes away.
F*** Kishiro.
Everyone live almost happy everafter.
The End.

Re: There we go again.... 37?
Honestly, I think I am becoming more apathetic to this situation, I mean I was willing to give him a second chance after he made a new arc, as I thought there was potential unlike the last 31st chapters of this instalment, which reading in hindsight wasn't good (could have a new opinion if those chapters are proven to have relevance and are further explored in different perspective but who knows). I mean you can't blame readers to lose interest and give up(or take a long from checking any updates) if no content has released in half a year.
If there is an author who proves you can jump between different timelines across centuries and still make it compelling and have a strong cohesive narrative I recommend Fata Morgana no Yukata by keika hanada. This author is a genius the fact he can make over 4 different timelines that spans across a 1000 years and show all the timeline connects and connects very damn well I might add succeed.
It also depicts insanity and madness way better than Mars Chronicles, plus it does child characters way better than this series does, with three dimensional character and will keep you second guessing on where the story goes. I know ^Ripper likes planetarian, but I thought Fata Morgana no Yukata is way more depressing as I cried in the series a couple of time, it is one of the greatest fictional works I have ever witnessed.

Re: There we go again.... 37?
I just finished the second door and its pretty average, though. Mars Chronicle at least has a semblance of plot and interesting setting, Fata Morgana is just random melodramatic stuff thrown in, with purposely warped structure to make it seem shocking, but its still predictable. Especially eye-rolling when the doors are solely climax oriented, when we already know that it will end in a tragedy. I also do not see how it does child characters better, when in an average village someone murdered child's family in front of him and the village had no empathy whatsoever towards him and blamed him for not being able to best a monster. He also did not have any mental trauma and seemed like just another asocial kid, who for some reason is still able to articulate farsighted worries, when nothing suggests where he would have collected such thoughts. The first door had a bit interesting MC with its dynamic towards the church and how it was being affected by the problems of maturity, but ending was still all around anti-climatic.00_unit wrote: Tue Feb 23, 2021 10:47 pm Honestly, I think I am becoming more apathetic to this situation, I mean I was willing to give him a second chance after he made a new arc, as I thought there was potential unlike the last 31st chapters of this instalment, which reading in hindsight wasn't good (could have a new opinion if those chapters are proven to have relevance and are further explored in different perspective but who knows). Does not help that it has no voice acting and sprites are extremely limit in terms of variety and barely are able to convey the emotions properly, as there is close to zero variety in terms of body language, so it almost completely relies on you to imagine the whole scene, as if you were reading the novel and not a VN. Presentation is also heavy-handed with repeated scenes to show what we already could have deduced on our own. So yeah, its not really hard to do what you described, when there is minimal plot and characterization in it (so far, at least). Future revelations won't really change just how much of a chore it is to read through it, for me at least. I mean, would you prefer these two doors over Mars Chronicle?

Re: There we go again.... 37?
Yeah, some of the points I do agree such as the presentation quality, which is something I wish they had a higher budget (ace attorney for example) for, as sometimes it just 2-3 hour of text with no pictures so it can be frustrating. Fata morgana I did like door 2 actually, was pretty interesting, but it gets a let better the more you read, and it's rewarding to see how it all connects and the child character I like is in the second half in the game, way better than young Yoko who is as bland as a silent jrpg protagonist.Cahir wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 5:45 pmI just finished the second door and its pretty average, though. Believe it or not some readers had the same opinion as you on how since it set up as a tragedy it can be predictable and I think those opinion do make a very far point. I am on the different camp on how it uses predictability to catch you off guard in the overall scheme of things, also fata morgana doesn't have plot Armor like mars chronicles or suffer too much side characters being shortlived trope being their sole purpose to die (which makes mars chronicle predictable to me anyway once I saw the pattern) and not create creative character chemistry or create unique motivation and challenges for the main character of a story. Also it never felt a chore once I completed the whole thing because reading again in hindsight I like seeing call backs and foreshadowing that the author seemed to plan and know where the plot is going, I mean the story isn't for everyone but there is a strong cohesion to this novel so it's one of the best in my book, though you're welcome to disagree of course hearing different perspective intrigues me.
But I would proudly say as well, if Mars Chronicles get a lot better and connects really well that I was fool and really wrong for doubting kishiro, otherwise these are my current feeling

Yoko is not a protagonist of these flashbacks, though and Gunnm has not really been tunnel-visioning on Alita ever since Last Order. That I love. It is that universal feeling of Gunnm that I love so much about it and have not really seen something similar in any animanga/VNs. She has a pretty interesting backstory in MC, meanwhile, that is tied to the exploration of her identity and expands it quite well. She can also barely walk, as she is that much of a child, so I do not really see whats the problem with her being 'bland'.
I am interested in that overall scheme of things, yeah, I tend to love the warped perspectives these days, but I find the structure of Fata Morgana to be quite cheap. I do like how the third door starts and will continue it today. Well, everything is abrupt in Fata Morgana and everything falls in to tragedy, while completely hiding the aftermath from the viewers in these two doors, so, so far, I do not really agree with it not having plot armor being a plus. I also do not see how does Mars Chronicle have a plot armor? The story has not really been build-up to main characters dying, all of the scenes had different purposes and the side-characters were definitely dying in them and these side-characters were defined enough to serve as facets of the themes. I do not think MC has been trying to make some melodramatic scene, for it to have been required to give these characters some focused arcs to make us care about them - cause I do not think I was supposed to care, as they are all inhumane, not allowed by the fate to be humane, so it would be weird for the narrative to be making some tear-jerking scenes about them. For example, that dynamic of Cowboy dude was amusing, because we can tell how he is trying to attach himself to humanity by blending his identity to the old things, like Elton and cowboys, but it is a failed attempt of his. Raises a question whether Erika and Alita achieve something that all these characters want(ed) and so on. I mean, that pattern seems problematic cause we are reading if with half-chapter releases amidst so many hiatuses - but I do not think it would have been a problem in the heat of the moment. I bought the sixth volume of MC and reading physicals really add more weight to feelings while reading these events and it is also quite fun how momentum of these events are maintained. I am not a fan of the newest chapters but oh well, at least Panzer Kunst came in.

So do we have any news ?
Re: There we go again.... 37?
Still no news as it wasn't in evening magazine 2020 issue 8(23/3). I highly doubt it will be in issue 9 (13/4) so much for Kishiro for releasing volume 8 this year, I am just going to assume he must be very ill at the very moment and hope he gets better.
Re: There we go again.... 37?
Maybe he has been abducted by aliens and he has been replaced with a (poorly sculptured) action figure.

FINALLY SOME NEWS FROM KISHIRO'S BLOG!!!
And the news are...
Today is his dogs' third birthday...

Yeah, I get that maybe he's not feeling like drawing/writing nowadays, and there may be some legitimate reasons, and I know that many Japanese creators barely engage with their fans, but completely ignoring your readers for so long while barely maintaining any schedule (and currently not having any schedule) is super not okay. FFS, Kishiro. :/
I wonder what else he does for a living, since I'm not sure if even with royalties from the Hollywood movie he earns enough to just... stop working. Especially since he doesn't seem to be a huge fan of Alita-themed merchandise.

thank you, someone who finally gets me, an update and fan interaction would be really nice his brother can do it in his place seeing he is an assistant to him. This is why I like other franchises PR methods more. The muv luv franchise has a great twitter feed, and they have been updating fans on progress, schedules and are immediately upfront about suffering delays and not go radar silence. confirmation and updates are always a nice thing. At least tell us his sick or something but we get nothing atm.Silvery wrote: Wed Apr 07, 2021 11:15 am Yeah, I get that maybe he's not feeling like drawing/writing nowadays, and there may be some legitimate reasons, and I know that many Japanese creators barely engage with their fans, but completely ignoring your readers for so long while barely maintaining any schedule (and currently not having any schedule) is super not okay. Takehiko Inoue's REAL is a lot more interesting than mars chronicle as it is a top 5 in my book
ALSO BERSERK IS BACK AGAIN on APRIL 23rd so get hyped for more development. Now Kishiro's the new berserk schedule.

Yeah, now Mars Chronicle is the new Berserk. Houseki no Kuni, too - and neither the author nor the studio who made the first season of HnK's adaptation (3.5 years ago...) are known for communicating with fans a lot. There's plenty of other great ongoing manga series that I'm currently reading, but these two are the ones I would like to see updated the most. :/
Re: There we go again.... 37?
I lost interest in manga, as i prefer novels lately, only manga are stuff i read in weekly basis out of obligation and sunk cost fallacy mindset. I am still into comedy as I stated a while ago, I do wish anime make more manzai comedy as those are rare lately. I think one of the comedy series I watched lately was solar opposites and it is nothing amazing but a decent fun pastimeSilvery wrote: Sat Apr 24, 2021 11:50 pmNow even we go on hiatus, hahaha (well, I was just sick).00_unit wrote: Thu Apr 08, 2021 2:45 amthank you, someone who finally gets me, an update and fan interaction would be really nice his brother can do it in his place seeing he is an assistant to him. also our hiatus is due to lack of update. we shouldn't be around too much if there isn't updates as we could use our time for others things.

it wouldbn't be half bad, even if quite offtopic.
