According to Kishiro's brother on a BBS forum.
The series has not resume yet due to the editorial department as even the author does not know when it will resume serialisation since that is beyond their control. But it is confirmed that they are still working on the manuscript while kodansha sort this out as they seem to be having problems and revamping their business model by saving on paper and transitioning to electronic books business politics in other words.
They assume we might hear something on the end of 2023 or early 2024.
Go to this link https://gunnm.apage.jp/ for more details as I got this via google translation ofc it is not 100% so take it with a grain of salt.

Weird how its written.
Sounds like Kodansha wants to go full digital but why can't this run parallel with releasing the actual manga?
I mean if there comes a time to make a full switch (which i would not like) then they can do it THEN.
I have a feeling there is something else going on.
Is digital licensing and paperback licensing different or covered under the same license?
I'm afraid there is a problem here that is not being mentioned.
It's been more then a year to figure this out so the whole transitioning to fully digital doesn't make sense while other material is made available on comic-days.
And its not like this is a fresh starting series either...
