Gunnm - Mars Chronicle 048 (part 2) / 049 (part 1) Are Out!

First of all there are some changes in the naming of the characters.
Different localization / interpretations can lead to different naming.
To get more to the US release naming style, some characters are going to be renamed.

This is inevitable as some localizers go very liberal with naming and other go very literal.
Happened before, will happen again.
Its a never ending cycle of guessing the right (or wrong) names of people, locations etc. before the actual release.

So:

Unye Holberg -> Yunie (Yuni) Holberg.
Yōko -> Yoko
Albe -> Arve
Gerda -> Gelda

Nothing earth shattering.
As a result we will do a v2 of the last few chapters that also fixes a few problems.

Thank you for the chapters you guys do awesome work. Wow I am liking this fast release pace too bad it will slow down once we reach chapter 51(hopefully I am wrong). I am really hoping Kishiro does not go on hiatus and have a more consistent release date after 51 but here's to hoping

he said he did 47-51 for a while about 4 months ago around and is now posting those completed to comic days every week atm(tmr 50 part 1 will release in japanese odc). I am just concern as after he does 5 chapters for a book he goes on break just something i noticed.

Thanks for your hard work. One request, though. Please don’t change the name Gerda into Gelda.
Gerda is the correct name. It is a common Dutch (and German) female name (in fact, my mom’s name is Gerda) It comes from the Germanic word ‘gard’, which means ‘branch’ (from a tree). It can also mean ‘enclosed (or guarded) yard’, or ‘Guard’.

Kishiro uses a quite a lot of Dutch names like Haverkamp en Jansen (for instance) and he used a Dutch map of Mars a while ago (during the treasure hunt/Muster arc).

I associate Gelda with the villain from Namco’s Rolling Thunder series (remember the Namco arcade game from 1987?)

I second the Gerda/Gelda part. "Gelda" seems like a mistake (kinda reminds me of the new Polish translation butchering Lou's name); Gerda is a genuine name.

48.2: Of course Yoko would eat a random leaf, haha. And I certainly didn't expect to see the return of that creepy guy, even if only for a while!

PS: If you ever decide to release another version, there's a typo in "unforeseen".

49.1: Not sure how to feel about a happy-go-crazy Yoko, but it's certainly interesting to watch. Is she getting "possessed" in a similar way to Yunie?

Yeah, that was my thought as well. I'm curious about Yunie - does this mean she ate a leaf as well? Are those leaves some sort of tickets to a panzerkünst hive mind/knowledge repository? (I mean, they certainly seem to be tickets to *some* sort of a hive mind.) Very interesting!

I never thought Yunie could be affected by the leaf as well. She still has unresolved plot threads such as stealing the book and why she feels a pain in her chest in doing so.
