New Battle Angel Figurine
Moderator: crazyankan
Hey, first time poster. Good day I say.
Look what came in the mail. Hazaah!

Went with amazon.co.jp and had a number of items shipped international. Ordered the UltraJump Megamix vol. 2... little did I know that the Koyomi story was printed in both that and the Gunnm: Another Stories.
Order was made Oct. 26, got here day or two before Christmas.
Had a little trouble getting her hands exchanged: wrist fixture required excavation. Haven't tried to change her eyes yet. Waist is a little fragile.
Still, quite lovely.

the sonic finger
the one with the deckman
the story about ido before he finds alita
and the koyomi one were everyone thinks den has come back from the dead
so dont worry your not missing anything

I received mine today.
Very happy with it, but it seems to be a bit flimsy in spots. The replacement hands for example dont really fit, and i dont dare to put more force on them. Same with the feet. The blade is also a bit hard to unfold, and the model has been designed rather strangely at some joints.
Still, who cares, Alita is in my room!

Like that line.Chrome wrote:Still, who cares, Alita is in my room!

Mine is finally on its way here. The second one, the one I ordered through http://www.hlj.com.
The first one I pre-ordered through a friend in Japan - well... buggers never contacted him after the initial "we got your order" e-mail.
Couldn't wait any more - ordered it through http://www.hlj.com.
Might end up buying two, if they ever contact him. Ah well... that would make one less birthday present to think up this year.

But look around you ...
Death and Light are everywhere, always, and they begin, end, strive,
attend, into and upon the Dream of the Nameless that is the world,
burning words within Samsara, perhaps to create a thing of beauty.

HLJ says discontinued...says the same thing for the Claymore Clare PVc statue...so what, is stuff only being made for like a month and then nothing? What kind of crap is that?
That damn PVC statue is now like over $100, when it was only $60 a week or so ago...
They can't make money off me if I can't buy their stuff...looks like it's back to Hawaii for more crap again...

Pre-orders started well over 6 months ago, with a clear indication that they were a limited run. If you didn't manage to get a hold of one then, it'll be hard to still find one.Vega2503 wrote:HLJ says discontinued...says the same thing for the Claymore Clare PVc statue...so what, is stuff only being made for like a month and then nothing? What I think that he thinks is that Alita is not wearing any clothes in the beginning of LO - it is kinda just painted on.dante187 wrote:Chrome wrote:It actually is just the Imaginos, with a couple of other bits. I don't know if you realized, but the tuned body is technically R-rated... It'd be very hard to make a doll from that :>
R-rated in what way?? :O
Or to be precise, she just changes color in certain places so it looks like she is wearing a really tight suit.
But I doubt that it could ever be R-rated. No nipples, no vaginal or rectal openings or even markings...
Nah... she comes off as just a regular girl-robot-toy to uninformed eyes.
All of her bodies are kinda asexual. Like a mannequin doll.
Now... her body at the end of the old manga... now that is something different.

honestly alita figure is kinda shabby you realy think it's worth so much in pricewise but everyone wants one just because it's alita,, but what can you do japan know's how to get us to spend cash lol i think that figure should be 29.99 alone ,with book 40 bucks tops.

Well... its the "Limited Edition Appeal".vilma21 wrote:honestly alita figure is kinda shabby you realy think it's worth so much in pricewise but everyone wants one just because it's alita,, but what can you do japan know's how to get us to spend cash lol i think that figure should be 29.99 alone ,with book 40 bucks tops.
Book + figure comes out to around $45.
Book alone was about $7 if I recall correctly.
So according to that, figure alone should be around $38.
My opinion is that for $38 it is a bargain.
Considering the current value of dollar compared to other currencies it is really cheap for a fully poseable, pre-painted figure, with accessories, replaceable limbs and even extra eyes (you get 2 additional eye-pieces and a bunch of little eye-stickers that you can use to create different "looks"). All that in really good packaging that probably added a buck or two to the price.
Now... your average Transformers toy costs about $30.
Not limited edition. Not rare. Not Alita. Walk into any mall with $30 and buy it.
Also, let us not forget that this is the first official Alita figure in years.
Was that white and yellow one even official or just some Chinese knock-off?
$38 is a bargain.
$20+ for shipping on the other hand is something else.

The tuned body is the one in the first series, volumes 6 through 9. It's referred to by Alita as "soft machine bodies", and is made very obvious when Kaos is fixing her. There's even scene in volume 7 that can be described at the very least by "making out".denzacar wrote:What I think that he thinks is that Alita is not wearing any clothes in the beginning of LO - it is kinda just painted on.dante187 wrote:Chrome wrote:It actually is just the Imaginos, with a couple of other bits. What really made me wonder about that scene are 2 things: First, you can see the outlines of nipples. Why she would have those is beyond me, but i guess it's just 1 step beyond "why she needs breasts in the first place".
Secondly, her crotch is covered up in all panels where she's naked, something Kishiro never bothered to do before (or after). The placement of the viewpoint during the entire scene does raise the question as to whether it has a good reason or not.
In any case, i'm assuming that the Tuned body is functional in more ways than just one, judging from that scene, and a couple of others in volumes 6-8.
