Do those guys look as if they are in any way affiliated with James Cameron?
It's fan-made.

Sorry FAKE
pretty good try though not suprised if it has some people fooled into thinking it may be real
James Cameron is making a movie called Avatar before he makes Battle Angel and he is currently working on Avatar he has been working on vivsual effects and CGI since april and is scheduled to start filming the live action scenes for Avatar in October the movie is supposed to be around 60% CGI and 40% live action and the release is going to be some time in 2008 so due to all of that he will probably start filming Battle Angel sometime 2008 for a 2009 release so it is going to awhile before we see any REAL Trailers

+1 to everyone...
Let's hope it's a fake. As everyone knows, BAA OVA was (IMHO) a real shit, with everithing changed and really silly, without any normal storyline from manga. I don't want Cameron to do the same thing...
What we see in this teaser is only the upper part of a human body with an implanted mechanical hand... Well made trailer indeed... but it's ALREADY a ruin of all the original storyline...
As I'm veeery familiar with 3d graphics and rendering software (8 years of life involved), I can say it seems to be fake... but It's made by a real professional or, more probable, a group of them, because it would have taken lots of time (2 years or so) to make this alone [it's my opinion, maybe I'm wrong].
But if it's real... everyone would be very disappointed and sad... it would be more like another story, which would have the only similarity with the manga by the main character... nothing else.
As it was written above,

If it's not a fake i don't see anything wrong with it yet. Scrapyard might have been changed to be more realistic and cheaper to film. Also if they are shortening this story, they coud've cut part about different Alita's bodies. Also it's pretty hard to film someone with iron hands and stuff, so why can't they make her body to be constructed as a terminator: cyborg within and artificial flesh outside.
I don't think that real film would be very far from conception that've been demonstrated in this "fake" video.
PS: I've made some research - and yes, this teaser is rubbish compared to what we all (including me now) expecting.

How come that Cameron wants to make 3 films basing on 9 volumes of BAA (3 per film), if original story is logically divided at 5 parts:
Beginning (Hugo and Makaku)
Motorball (Jashugan)
Zapan (Desty Nova and disappearing of Ido)
Battle Angel (story about Figure Four)
Barjack (Kaos, Den, Lou and Desty Nova again)?
And what about Last Order? They have to make an alternative ending again then (though Alita isn't Spiderman - 6th film would be as cool as first so it's meaningless to shut down such as I hope profitasble project in a distant future).

Will it be live action?
Cameron: Live action and CG mixed, meaning we will build sets, we'll shoot with actors and we'll have CG characters. Alita will be CG; she'll be performed by an actress but what you see in the film will be CG.
Like Gollum?
Cameron: That's a very good example.
Also, it involves a french porno star (according to IMDB) Dany Verissimo. I don't think Cameron would invite a porno star to his movie. This "trailer" was made by a small studio in France and has nothing to do with the actual film, period.

Which timeline do you intend to focus on?
Cameron: It's a bit of a mйlange of the first three books, which means that it pulls forward the motorball story into the Ido, Alita, Hugo story, if you will.

Yeah, I've read about it already but tnx. Will it be live action?

Ex-porn star. D.Moore, G.Halliwell, S.Bulloсk as far as I know was porn models once too, which doesn't mean that they're lacking of tallent, though Verissimo was quite famous as porn star but they didn't. But you're right it really would've been too risky to invite her. Also, it involves a french porno star (according to IMDB) Dany Verissimo. So what does that mean? There will be motorball story or not?According to IMDB, there will be only one part:Which timeline do you intend to focus on?
Cameron: It's a bit of a mйlange of the first three books, which means that it pulls forward the motorball story into the Ido, Alita, Hugo story, if you will.
And according to Wiki:
James Cameron is directing and producing Battle Angel, a live-action adaption of the first three volumes of the manga series. Cameron has plans to make a trilogy if the first film is successful. I don't think he's going to do only one film, because BAA is an ostrich with golden eggs and he knows that.

The change he'll probably make is to pull motorball into the hugo story instead of seperating them. And before you complain about the plot: Alita doesn't have to be playing in it as a 'legit' participant before Hugo dies, but Cameron will want to introduce it before that happens to clarify to the audience what motorball exactly means for Alita at that point.
Also, i think BAA is a very risky "golden ostrich". Only the western manga fanatics know about BAA whereas GITS has already been in the cinemas. People will look there for reference, not to the actual manga. Cameron will have to market BAA very carefully to avoid it being labelled as "a GITS copy", which is a very real danger.
But this is Cameron. I think 90% will come to watch film only because it's made by him and because it's a blockbuster with huge buget. They may think that that's an original story as Terminator once was, I don't see any problem here.
Talking about Ostrichs I didn't mean that profit from the first film would make them do another one (because it has to be profitable, even Fantastic 4 II - a huge piece of crap was quite profitable), It's just Kishiro's work too big that it easily can be adopted into huge serial without decreasing of it quality from film to film (only if scenarists wouldn't change it a lot - they aren't learn on their mistakes screwing up one sequel to another).
Okay then It's only abou 600 days left... Let's hope and wait.

Come to think about that... That's not so bad idea (hope there won't be Jashugan's story because film would be too long or too short for characters to participate). She can be bounty hunter and motorball rider at the same time. That means that second film would probably be about Jashugan and Zapan... :3 Nyaa........ That's nice..... *Daydreaming*The change he'll probably make is to pull motorball into the hugo story instead of seperating them. Here's a good way to kill some time
http://www.simulationstyle.com/
Games, I can recommend would be:
Suguri (Action) - Currently trying to beat the last level on easy -_-
Acceleration of Suguri (Fighting) - Thinking versus with Suguri. Though supposedly a 1.02b patch allows Suguri to have verus.
Hitoga Happa (Shooting) - Somewhat easy once you figure our what to do.
Duo Princess (Action) - I've played it and though I can't say I recommend it because it's too easy and a bit repetitive.
BIG BANG Beat 1st Impression - A pretty fun fighting game.
I've downloaded a bit more but I can't say I've played them just yet. No Gunm games from what I see though. Plenty of games to kill time with :O
As for the topic, I doubt it'll ever be as good as the manga but I'll still watch it and enjoy it or pretend to enjoy it! The budget on this film is going to be too important if Alita is going to be 100% CG.

I wish there'd be manga based on every blockbuster I've seen... Because I just want more (moar!). The Matrix... Terminator dilogy... Equilibrium... the new Batman's story... Dark City... *sigh* I donwanna read novells! (in english especialy - 'cuz they won't be translated in russian here anyway I suppose).
But this time it's differnt. At last there's something I can watch and read as many time as I want!

Actually the only Alita's "piece of flesh" is her matusalized brain, her earlier heads are build in ceramite (i'm not sure the english word is that, anyway an artificial material which is hardert and more resistant than steel), and the face seems to be made in some latex like gum, as in the movie "the bicentennal man". Yet it's not clear at all how she menages facial expressions, since it seems there shouldn't be any servo mechanism between skull and face
. Imaginos and fitzeroy bodies does not count, that seems to be made by nanomachined muscular cells which we can assume easy replicate the real muscular cells contractions.

As in the robots tradition they come out of the skull and can be put easely back in, u can see that in Alita Vs AR2 in the last chapters of the old serie. They look to be some cameras shaped in an eyeball just for estetic pourpouse, there are several cyborgs whish has completely different eyes solutions.

Vilma, I am starting to realize you are alien (perhaps Martian), once I have great difficulties in deciphering your messages. What did you mean this time?vilma21 wrote:Code: Select all
