Look, this is such a great outcome! Who would have thought, Zekka turns out to be in a thinking pose?
Two awesome, butt-kicking fights would have been cool, we would scream and then its over. Now we have something different, something to think about.
Look at all the matching points, how the joints are connected: Alita "blooming" out of Tunguska, Sakura blooming out of Ygrec and Olymphe. Alita in a "Zen- state" with nothing on her mind, now Zekka maybe in the same state. Both pondering about "What is live? What is human?".
Alita has no brain anymore, she keeps fighting but imo she is like a time bomb, her wild feelings of not being flesh with any part of her body anymore will come out soon. Zekka realises, that he has forgotten all love. Everytime he talkes about destruction and stuff but now he sees Ygrec, his own flesh, how Ygrec can have actual feelings for someone. Like Pissaro said "You will learn to know what you have given away with your flesh."
Then this sakura blossoming is a little hint to the old ending with Alita becoming a huge flower. Beautiful. Also, the nature and the "true" evolution triumphs over the artificial evolution of the Venusians. Nature will always find its way and it can create not only ugly efficient monsters but also beauty. That is the soul of BAA and GLO, to make you think about something, not to make you drool about awesome fights.

Very interesting interpretation - I'll buy it. I can't remember if I hinted at it before, but I always saw the Ygrec/Olympe pairing as a homage to Beauty & the Beast with a hint of Romeo & Juliet, so this ending wasn't too surprising for me personally.Cailon wrote:Look, this is such a great outcome! Also: if some readers wanted "mindless violence" there are far more obvious manga-candidates out there than Glo. Open your mind for a second thought.
Zekka being emo??? Heh, like THAT would ever happen. Imagine:
Zekka: "LEAVE ALITA ALONE! SHE'S A HUMAN BEING!!!!! LEAVE HER ALOOOOOOOONEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *cue tears and dripping mascara*

I don't exactly see Gally blossoming out of Tungunska, in my opinion it was more something like a 'cannibalization' and an 'eruption' combined, something much more dramatic and chaotic than the blossoming of a flower (as the events on Jupiter after Gally absorbed Tungunska showed).Cailon wrote:Look, this is such a great outcome! For the sakura blowing out of Olympe and Ygrec, I have to admit that the relationship on those both individuals is quite touching, BUT the real flaw of both those characters and their story lie in Olympe, this character is just, hummm, hollow. She has no definite details (except her ass) and really lack charisma, which make the love story between Ygrec and her seems also uninspired. Ygrec on the other side is cool, the way he express his feelings and what he does for Olympe, really moving. I see now why he choose to use a sakura to relate to the love and death of those two, I'm still wondering why specifically a sakura, is Zekka has japanesse origin like Gally (since he lived on mars too).
Gally is also hollow in my opinion. I don't think she is really concerned about not being flesh anymore, no worry on this side. However, there is indeed something coming at her and hopefully it will come closer so we can finally see some action. The whole Zen-thing is in my opinion the make over for the moment she will go crazy and do something big (becoming the 'phantom' cat).
I was going to say that Zekka dont care about love, but I think I can do better. (edit: IN MY OPINION) The only thing about Zekka and the way he sees his clone is kinda like empathy (edit: not sympathy) and also recognizing that he has gotten farther than what he was before (edit: of course, I need to know what he say to Ygrec, just assuming here).
As I said, Kishiro did a good job showing the beauty of nature through the sakura, but he did a way better job showing the ugliness of it (edit: nature, baka) too. And the artificial evolution is no different from the true evolution you are talking about, both are modifying living beings to better adapt a situation, in this case the one the Venusians care about and the one a natural would stress on its inhibitants. So there is no real triumph of anything here except Zekka god-like powers (the guy can turn a biological weapon into freaking sakura O.o, I still dont believe this non-sense...).
And by seeing that BAA is not about drooling about awesome fight you are indeed hindering a lot of this soul you are talking about. I mean CMON dont tell me the fight against Jashugan were not inspiring, that the deadly mayhem of the motorball fights were just here so we could have some awesome fights... If you say that the fights are not an important of BAA as the different talks and reflections, then in my opinion you are missing the whole point of BAA. You are also assuming that people are not able to think about something out of an awesome fight, I can personally say that I had some of my most brilliant ideas thanks to the fights in BAA. And here people like me were expecting something, expecting to have a demonstration WITH A REAL FIGHT of what this part of the serie with Zekka was about, we were expecting something big, something that would inspire us, a demonstration of power and bioengineering genius... and what did we got, a pseudo Romeo and Juliet with Zekka posing....
If after that you dont see why I'm not really happy with this whole fight and why I dont consider it as such a "great" outcome then we just dont think alike.

Are you sure you have been reading Gunnm recently?BeastSoulEyes wrote:BUT the real flaw of both those characters and their story lie in Olympe, this character is just, hummm, hollow. You have probably changed it with a Stallone script.

what's the point ? cyborgs and androids can love ? we already knew that from original gunnm yugo's story (and ido's christmas carol extra chapter)

It seems there really are reasons to panic if even HumanRange is changing scripts.HumanRage wrote: he is right... this love story was ended as soon as introduced (all happened in the vol13), this is ennoying me too...

1. The point is repressed sexuality. That became ovious (psichologically explicit) when Homme-du-Feu, burning in hunger/lust, tried to devour/rape Olympe.
2. In the Christmas carol, the girl (Carole) is neither an android nor a cyborg, and she lives a father-daughter relation with Ido, not a man-woman love story (and no jokes about pedophilia or incest, please!)
My idea with BeastSoulEyes was to be ironic, and his answer shows that he understood the irony, but now I am worried. Is there any terrorist group changing the sripts?
By the way: I would prefer your previous avatar. That stupid mouse wearing the underpants on his head is simply ridiculous, to say the least.
i like 1 good movie with Stalone.. Johny Rambo (that from 2008)..
Anyway i think that the point of the story is:
(I just skipped how Ygreek or Olympe aquired their humanity or they didnt
)
Humans are imperfect and by struggling through life they want to archive impossible things (like Zekka said when thumb-wrestling Sechs) to show that their life wasn't waste and give meaning to it. So this story is generaly a question. "Can life love?".
other thing is that even great butt cant give you much charisma
Anyway i think that Toji's "Elecktro-Magnetic-Huricane Kick" was quite awe inspiring.
About Alistas "Zen-breainwasched" chip and all spaced-out altitude.. she has become ZOMBIE of this volume

best 2008 movie, the movie that kept all its promises between trailer and actual theater release !

ADRIANNNNEEEEEE!!!!
Hey, its not Rambo...
Seriously, I do agree on the very cool part of the story where Ygrec remembered his relation with Olympe. But guess what, this part of the story was centered on Ygrec, which confirm my point that what is making this relation seems bad lie on the side of Olympe. (So far as I am concerned Ygrec kick ass).
And yea, knowing Pissaro's last words would rock, easily among the most horrible deaths I have seen in my life.

meh
So offtopic, this rambo talk.
My question is not so much of a question as a... Observation. Was Pizarro indeed "eaten" by his minions, or was he rather... How do I put this... Ass invaded?
I am seeing some extreme penetration facilitated by forceful ripping of sphincter and/or whole abdomen.
