Well it was nice , seeing the glossary , the mothman beer thing was pretty much the coolest thing out there in the whole glossary , apart from that it all seems like looking throughout wikipedia with extra details that really don't turn my world upside down , it's pretty generic but congratulations for doing things many would never bother with ... The world needs more people like you who do those insignificant menial tasks that we don't notice but without which the world would not be the same.
Making a B.A.A. + B.A.A.L.O. glossary , it's a dirty job.

Nah, its way better than wikipedia. It has much more info, the articles are connected and linked to each other so you can browse through the Alita-Universe, you get interesting side notes and background information and so ooon!
I know you said that already but it sounded like "meh, ok, aaand now, whats up next?". I had to give it a bit more enthusiasm because its a lot of work by the author of this glossary and the outcome is something like an awesome collection.
It deserves a little more advertising ;)

The only explanation is that the file was corrupted during the download, otherwise everyone would have the same problem. I recommend you to download it again.

Hmm still getting a corrupt file error message. It seems i'm not downloading the entire file (something like 2mb out of 17mb) can someone try uploading it to rapidshare for me, if that doesn't work it will be my computer and not the site.

Very VERY late response :x

But GREAT work Sergio!
I've replaced the old one on the website with the new one!
Its a direct download so should work for everyone.
I also took the liberty to rename the file.

Also since you made the glossary something spooked through my mind for awhile.
Gunnm wiki.
I know there are a few pages on wikipedia already about the characters, story etc.
Still its far from complete.
So i've been tinkering with installing wiki software on my site just for fun.
Well the wikipedia software works but is so bulky and useless to copy stuff from the original wiki pages because of the templates.
Templates in templates in templates (in short uncopyable).
Found something else called tikiwiki that seems more basic and easier to learn.

http://www.rippersanime.com/wiki/ (Read only, no accounts yet!)

Maybe an idea to start something like that?
The right wiki software? there are like 30+ wiki packages out there :P

In the Index tab, type Gally, and you will be sent to the entry Alita, as it is the same character.

Well, ^Ripper is about to release volume 12, so I think I can release the newest version, already containing volume 12 as well.

I have to thank Cailon, who has been my especial quality-checker.

I apologize. I am completely ignorant of Macs.
Besides, the prices are prohibitive. I have to make do with PC.
But thanks for the applauses.

It's stable working under Wine in Linux.

Try using a Mac version of wine called CrossOver Mac.

Btw, it's shareware, so look for it in torrent. =)))

Two things to add to the glossary:

1. I think that the name Lam Dao, the blacksmith that created the Damascus Blade, is a mistranslation from Ram Dao, a Nepalese sacrificial sword.

http://www.michaelbackmanltd.com/733.html

2. The motorball 3rd division champion, Armor Togo, is based on the real Togo Chui (1561-1643), a Japanese swordsman. Togo Chui created the Jigen ryū sword art (which appears in the Gunnm manga as the Jigen school). Even Armor Togo's Butterfly Stance exists in the Jigen ryū, called tonbo-no-kamae in Japanese.

1) Interesting. I will check it!
2) Great! I had written something in previous editions, but as I lacked confirmation, I had to remove it. Now you've just given me info about that. Thanks a lot! :D

Actually, it has been a unique pleasure. I am a great fan of this masterpiece.
I am already preparing some improvements for the next edition.

Yes, I also find it unusually fun and rewarding to search for cultural references (historical, philosophical, religious...) in mangas, tv series and films.

Sergio, I have a question: Can I help with the Gunnm translations?

Since I am a US American currently studing economics in Spain, I am both fluent in English and Spanish. I also know some Galation, Portuguese, and French.

Certainly! I have just released phase 83 retranslation.
Check Reinga's work here: http://www.mediafire.com/?nhm4yxnqhnx
(I believe Dharko won't care that I inform this here).

Thanks for your help.

Ok, I clicked to the mediafire download page, but I received a Javascript error popup. If you could direct me to another page, I would be so grateful.

In the meantime, I'll be checking the phase 83 translation script in the forum and see if I can help with that.
