What Gunnm / Battle Angel stuff/merchandise do you have?
It's so damn hard to find anything Gunnm related to collect. I really wish there was more stuff for addicts like me to buy. Anyway, here's what I have:
-All the books in English
-The anime on DVD
-an almost complete collection of the Viz comics run of the original series (missing about 5 issues)
-Three original sketches / denga from the anime
-A really cool doushinji book from 1993 by Priestess...live called "Hyper Future Vision GUNNM"
-two non-official t-shirts (I don't believe there are any legit shirts)
That's it for me...I know there are a variety of figures / statues of Gally out there as well as some other stuff. I want to play the PSX game too (don't have that either).
So what Gunnm stuff do you have, or want?

Well, you have the Play Station game and all the documentation here in ^Ripper's Anime. Just check the download page.
I have the Brazilian edition of Hyper Future Vision, and I have been buying the Japanese edition of Last Order.
I also have the anime, the soundtracks and the PlayStation videogame.

Harry over at Yukitopia has pointed out that Ultra Jump issues can be purchased from Amazon.co.jp!
Per his recommendation, I just ordered the May and March 2009 issues, as well as UJ Megamix vol 2 and Gunnm Gaiden.
Here's his post:
"DHL Express and Amazon JP rock! Sent on April 18th (had to wait for Ultrajump May the day after volume 13), arrived today in Canada on the 21st including customs brokerage. Simply awesome service.
If you check ultra.shueisha.co.jp you'll see that Gally is on the cover of the May issue! And there is a 2-page pullout "ultragraphics" color page as well. I picked up earlier issues of Ultrajump as well to get ahead past volume 13 and catch up on all my other favorites (there are many now in Ultrajump). March 2009 contains a set of covers of previous ones including the last Gunnm cover with Gally in the water without any of the writing that usually covers it; it's just beautiful.
I picked up some other Tankubons as well plus a very interesting Gunnm novel! This has only a few illustrations, the rest is all Japanese, written the usual way top to bottom and left to right. Over 200 pages of pure Japanese text will keep me busy for quite a while..."

Re: What Gunnm / Battle Angel stuff/merchandise do you have?
Everything written below is my IMHO, it may contain really offensive thoughts, so do not consider me a troll. I've warned you.
I just don't understand this topic. It's really something like comparing whose penis is longer. No point at all.
Amount of fan stuff you've purchased simply means nothing. It's just stuff. Goods. It can be purchased and sold. No exceptions.
You've bought something related and it stands at your shelf, but this does not make you even a bit more fan. You even forget that you have it really soon, because you are not constantly watching at it.
For example, I don't have any of those stuff, I've never considered buying it (price does not matter), and I won't.
Furthemore, no one IRL knows that I have anything to do with this manga, forum, or everything else related to this, no one knows about this affliction. Even this state of affairs do not make me less fan than you guys. It's nothing.
Another example, I have a gunnm wallpapers (which even took a lot of my time to rebuild [about 2 months a picture]) at all my 6 compiz cube (prism) faces and a half-opacity applied to every window, so, basically, I'm seeing these images for about 18 hours a day through every window, every day, for about 2.5 years from now. I even see them every time I close my eyes. And it does not make me even a bit bigger fan. It's nothing too.
Because amount of "being a fan" is just not measurable. It's not a scalar value, it's boolean. You're a fan, or you're not. Nothing third is given.
If you're a fan, you can just express it in any way: create fan-art, try to find underlying theme, cosplay like people in near topic, or just help a translating team, it does not matter what, just do it.
Summary of everything written above:
Collecting is pointless. It is not a measure. Everyone loses his mind and goes mad in his own way.

It is one of the few pieces we don't have in ^Ripper's Anime yet.
Re: What Gunnm / Battle Angel stuff/merchandise do you have?
Int 29ah- I completely agree that the amount of stuff you own in no way indicates how big a fan you are. A rich person could own thousands of Gunnm items as part of a huge collection of manga stuff but have no real attachment or excitement for them.
And for the record, Int 29Ah strikes me as one of the biggest fans I've seen. Actions and words speak louder than collections.
As for the topic, I'm just curious what other Gunnm stuff is out there. I had no intention of making this an e-peen comparison thread.

I had already suspected that. Now you've just confirmed.Int 29Ah wrote: I just don't understand this topic. It's really something like comparing whose penis is longer. No point at all.

Freud would say that you are certainly a little-dicked guy. That is the only explanation to such an absurd behavior: to pester someone just becuase he has different tastes. For God's sake.

Re: What Gunnm / Battle Angel stuff/merchandise do you have?
Int, I think if you could've buy Gunnm stuff in a bookstore you (and me) would do that. But since we cannot we don't have any.

In short, you really care about size, it seems.

You started first. Also I don't care about the size since I'm not a girl or gay. Why do you care?Sergio wrote:In short, you really care about size, it seems.

You sound bitter. Collecting is not pointless, it is an effective way of supporting a franchise. Do you really think Last Order would have gone ahead if nobody bought the B.A.A. graphic novels or merchandise?Int 29Ah wrote:

I've caused so much shit boiling by only one post. Seems like I'm a troll after all.

2 kvhokuto:
Maybe, I've just put my thought wrong. I'm not against generally collecting. People collect stamps and it does not make them a stamp fans. Or anything. It just makes me sick when people are comparing how many stuff they have (any stuff).
It's like "I have this, you don't. --> you're shit.".
What about supporting the author...
Every great thing starts from hobby. Creator has hobby and it goes well, and then he thinks "I can earn money from that too", and starts selling it.
I think, YK had it as a hobby first, it wasn't all about money in the beginning. As it is for now, audience is really huge, although it is relatively small compared to other manga. But even at this rate, +-1k readers do not make a difference.
As for me, I'd rather donate author directly, than buy. However, this is impossible.
Everything is subjective imho, it is in an eye of the beholder.
2 sergio:
Dix have nothing to do with this thread. That was a metaphorical expression.
[joke] However, if someone has an iphone, that automatically means that he has a small. [/joke]
Also, Freud has gone obsolete many decades ago. Moreover, Freud is usually considered cool only by schoolboys, because of his libido theory. By the way, Freud had serious mental problems, maybe schizophrenia. Damage he has made to psychology and science hasn't fully recovered even nowadays.

If you go after Jung, you'll have to be inprisoned in a wall or something.

I'm not a psychopath. I've read Freud, Jung, Adler, Lakan, and lots of other crazy things, so I can definitely say that Freud was the insane one, not me. He turns out insane, even if you analyze him with his own theory.

Also, as you said yourself, you see people who share my point of view. They are more than one + me, right? And you're one.
Using a theory of multitudes: more people than you a priori are not psychopaths.
For example:
Read Freud's libido theory, which you simpathyze with. Read even it's beginning - steps of a personal development. And this is just a tip of an iceberg of his insanity.
He has lots of other theories - theory of dreams, theory of unconciousness, theory of secondary procession... they all finally come to a libido

To be simpler: he explains every aspect of psychological being with an instinct of reproduction. This is at least not right.
Novadays, his sympathizers mainly are schoolboys, who like his thoughts (NOT THEORY) only because of "hehehehe, buagaga, he said 'dick', cool man!!!" - Beavis & Butt-Head's point of view.

Also, his theory that dreams are processed post-images seen during the day (even without libido undertext), never worked on me. I always see some crazy high-level abstraction when I sleep, nothing to do with my life or anything I've ever seen at all.

What about Jung... I'm not going after him. I have my own unique theory.

---------------------------------------------
I don't want to develop this flood any more. It's pointless, also I just don't have time and endurance to explain it all to you as I see it (even if I want).
