litchi master wrote:where would the first name "pissarocrié" come from?
Actually, that's how it's written in japanese: "Pisarocri(é) de vouivre". There's only 2 spaces in his name. You can read it in Phase 79, page 3, panel 2, 2nd line. That's why at page 172, he says "Pissarro Crié" and not "Pissarro" alone.

By the way... Do ^Ripper or Crazyankan have the font "Wild Word International"? If not, there's no "é" in the basic version. But if you have... can we have a talk in pm? :D

Fixed all the errors.

So only 2 things remain.

1) Translation of the doublepage
2) Checking of the creditspage for errors.

http://stuff.rippersanime.com/Gunnm_LO_ ... ing_v2.zip

(and yes the colorpages STILL suck :P this will get done properly on release.)

Also on another note.
Maybe its a good idea to make someone else "head" editor for the volume releases?

I thought you could. Probably I have confused something.
Anyway, we can still count on the archbishop in case our colleague TargaryenX is no longer available.

I actually had translated most of it, but I got distracted and forgot about it. Let me know if you have any questions about the typesetting, since it's kind of difficult to communicate where everything should go in text.

Top Right Starburst Bubble:

With diagrams

Top Right Box:

Shueisha Encyclopedia Series

Monsters of Venus

Venus is famous among sci-fi fans for producing creatures like the Venus Crab and Venus Dragon*. These Venusian monstrosities have finally made
their way into the world of Gunnm. Below, we take a closer look at two examples.

*Translator's Note (this can go anywhere): Venus crab and Venus dragon are monsters that appeared in some Godzilla movies.

Diagram of Bigorne, going clockwise, starting from the top of the head:

Bigorne's Scales
Bio-reactive armor containing metallic hydrogen. Grows back instantly.

First Brain
Recieves orders from Homme du Feu.

Bigorne's Compound Eyes
Capable of seeing 360 degrees in visible, infrared, and ultraviolet spectrums.

Bigorne's Fangs
Huge fangs made of griffenium which can crush almost anything.

Finger Cannons
Automatic artillery that fires 35cm griffenium rounds.

Cannonball tube
An organ which creates and stores the rounds for Bigorne's finger cannons.

Venusian Stomach
Contains hot pressurized acid which can melt any metal.

[inside the body] Deuterium Sac

Bigorne's Feet
12500 times as powerful as Lü Bu

Pincequeue
When the main body is in danger, Pincequeue can seperate like a lizard's tail and act independently.

Second Brain

Bigorne's Dorsal Spines
Able to launch an unlimited number of bio-missiles.

Bottom Right Box:

Violent Beast Bigorne
Total Length: 48 meters Weight: 498 tons
A powerful armored monster equipped to handle both long-distance and melee combat, it has a very agressive personality. It eats mostly Jovian
mechs. It is named after a monster from French legends that used to eat only faithful men.

Top Left Box:

Laser Beast Chicheface
Total Length: 42 meters Weight: 342 tons
Its armor is fairly thin compared to Bigorne's, but it's faster and it uses its maneuverability to its advantage when it attacks. Its diet
consists primarily of Jovian destroyer soup. It is named after a monster from French legends, which unlike Bigorne used to eat only faithful women.

Chicheface Diagram starting at the tail, clockwise:

Chicheface's Tail
So sharp it could slice Tokyo tower in half.

Venusian Bones
Made from hollow griffenium, they're both light and strong.

Venusian Guts
Because of a special bacteria developed by the Biovouivre corporation, Chicheface is able to efficiently obtain nutrients from rocks and metals.

[pointing inside the stomach] A cluster of organs that contain the raw materials for the lasers.

[inside the stomach from top to bottom]
Ethylene Duct
Deuterium Sac
Nitrogen Flouride Bladder

Chiceface's Feet
9000 times as fast as Red Hare

Organic Laser Cannon
"Flambette"
The main cannon in Chicheface's mouth is powerful enough to cleave a destroyer in two.

Chiceface's Mane
Even stronger than iron, it is resistant to electrical attacks and high temperatures.

Omnidirectional Laser
The uncanny masks all over Chicheface's body can fire lasers from their eyes.

Exhaust Vents
Releases gas containing hydroflouric acid that would dissolve any normal creature.

Bottom Left Box:
Griffenium

A material produced only by Venus' weaponized beasts. It is composed of a wolfram* alloy, but the crystals intertwine to make long fiber-like
structures, resulting in a flexible cylinder similar to bamboo. The interior is a three-dimensional network resembling a honeycomb, allowing for
a construction that is both light and strong.

Left Picture: Griffenium crystals

Right Picture: Three-dimensional network structure.

*Wolfram: Otherwise known as tungsten. It is very hard and dense. The name wolfram comes from the large quantities of tin used in the refining
process.

*Translator's Note (this can also go anywhere): The descriptions on their feet are references to the famous Chinese warrior Lu Bu, said to be the strongest man who ever lived, and his fabled steed Red Hare.

Bigorne's Feet
12500 as powerful as Lu Bu (Lu Bu?)

Violent Beast Bigorne
Total Length: 48 meters Weight: 498 tons
A powerful armored monster equipped to handle both long-distance and melee combat, it has a very agressive personality. It eats mostly Jovian mechs. It is named after a monster from French legends that used to eat only faithful men. (verbal tense; adverb)

Laser Beast Chicheface

It is named after a monster from French legends, which unlike Bigorne used to eat only faithful women. (comma usage; verbal tense)

Venusian Guts
Because of a special bacteria developed by the Biovouivre corporation, Chicheface is able to efficiently obtain nutrients from rocks and metals. (company's name; adverb)

Chiceface's Feet
9000 times as fast as Red Hare (Red Hare?)

*Wolfram: Otherwise known as tungsten. It is very hard and dense. The name wolfram comes from the large quantitites of tin used in the refining process. (spelling)

Lu Bu and Red Hare look like historical references. Nice job Targa, to know this :).
Sergio wrote:360 degree vision in clear, infrared, and ultraviolet spectrums
"Visible" really is the appropriate term used in physics. If you want to remove the repetition, talk about "field of view", but doesn't sounds as good as "vision"... but "view" isn't far from "visible"...

Page 34

Gerambo: So, we request to the audience… (this preposition has no meaning here).

I changed it to: "The truth is that this “coliseum” is a little empty. So, we requested the audience to gather together in one place, however..."

-----------------------------

Page 37
footnote: Here they make reference to their shape. (What does this phrase mean? Who are they? Their shape? But Humpty Dumpty is just one).

Isn't this from what point of view? it still reads somewhat weird tho.

1) "Here the author makes reference to it's shape (point of view comparing humpty dumpty to the biotools)
2) "Here the author makes reference to their shape (point of view comparing the biotools to humpty dumpty)

Since the line begins explaining humpty dumpty i suppose the first one will do.

-----------------------------

The last page i'll edit tomorrow.
Can you believe i have a whole week vacation :D

Pincequeue
When the main body is in danger, Pincequeue can separate like… (spelling)

Venusian guts
Because of a special bacterium… or
Because of special bacteria
(I myself prefer the second option. I also apologize for not seeing that before.)

Credits page:

Translation script
Burning Angel and Targaryenx should also be here.
Burning Angel helped to retranslate Reinga's text.
Targaryenx translated the Venusian monsters' page, for example.
