GLO 99

Post by ulysses »

A certain new guy on a certain French forum has started to scan some Ultra Jump mangas, in order to make up for the disappearance of Raw-paradise.
Among those, Gunm Last Order: Enjoy the raw!

Yes. My guess is that chapter 98 is (unfortunately?) a key chapter to understand the transformation that sechs has just undergone. He seems to have used is willpower to reach out and grasp something essential about the fizziroy body.

As for Alita, I think she underestimated Toji a bit. Wanting to play with her prey cost her dearly. However, her new body has the shape-shifting ability so I wouldn't be too surprised if she could somehow gather back her body parts (as long as the fata morgana and the computer chip aren't damaged.)

Two punches per chapter... This really sucks!

Alita got smashed... Not a big deal =P

With a new source for scans we are back to the game... But is there someone here that can translate Chinese?!

kamugin: Our translator have the latest Ultra Jump in his hands.
So if I knew him right, he should have translated all of it soon.

I don't think Alita can be defeated that easily ... maybe it's just like the fight between her and the vampire Caerula ... an afterimage ... or whatever it's called.

good points

Or maybe that's her first form (since she took on the body, power source of the jupiter uber weapon - which had multiple forms)

or she'll simply will herself together again (as she rebuild her own body from scratch)

That was just a small thrill, otherwise her fight with Toji would be too boring. We all know that there are only two real contenders on that arena: Alita and Zekka, the others are just small fry.

That's what I was thinking as well. Toji probably crushed her intent while the real Alita avoided the kick and goes for a counter-attack.

Then again, it WOULD be an interesting twist if chapter 100 opens with Alita splattered all over the arena.

I think this trick was used too many times. Maybe it's a chanse for Jovians to launch the Glass Cat operation, but Alita will think something like "f*ck you Jovians!" then absorb their technology (again) to build the new mega uber body and then she will split Toji into atoms

Hello there, everyone. Gatekpr here. VERY long time lurker. Anyway.

Crushing Alita's intent in this instance doesn't work. The reason it worked in the fight against Vilma was that Vilma could essentially read minds by reading nervous impulses. She saw Alita's movement before it happened and thus attacked to compensate for that, while Alita froze up. Toji, at least as far as we know, is incapable of reading minds in any form.

Then what about the technic she used in the fight between her and that molester karate guy ... he thought he'd pierced through her heart/body but she was already somehwere else ... (the fight is at the end of the twelves volume)

I'm pretty sure that was just blinding speed. Even Rakan wasn't fast enough to register where she really was. If you recall, earlier in this chapter, you see dozens of Alita silhouettes assaulting Toji and collapsing his barrier on all sides.

EDIT: And, really, blinding speed can't cause a shattered body. If it's not her, it's most likely a plasma clone. If anything.

Taraba is saying to Toji afterwards, that she was using her mind to control him mentally ... so I don't think that's its blinding speed, maybe it's blinding speed as well but definitely not the only technic.

Personally, I'm pretty sure that Alita has been subconciously manipulating Quantum Wave Collapse since the start of Last Order.
S'Why she felt like she was "popping out" of her body, she was creating a state (unsuccessfully) where she existed at two points at once instead of actually moving. The first example being the GIB robot fight.

Later she creates a "Quantum Doppleganger" in the fight against Caerula. Caerula strikes and decapitates it, hears it's head hit the ground....I'd say her senses are far too supernaturally acute to be fooled by a false image or "intent" and that she actually struck Alita's Quantum Dupe. She's creating a condition like Schrodingers (sp) Cat, where she's potentially existing in two states or locations at once, until one is finally resolved. This would explain why we see a piece of her head strike the ground, and even stir up dust, yet the ZOT cameras have no record of it.
For a brief moment, Two Alita's exist, one crouching on the ground, and one leaping into the air. Once the Quantum waves have fully collapsed into a fixed reality, the leaping Alita has never existed. It's also possible that Caerula's total awareness/prediction (she is likely sensing wave collapse) allowed her to sense this second, failed Alita Dupe in the first place.

With Rakan, there's no question that he struck her. We see clearly that he did not miss, and he felt the strike hit home. I'd say that with her new connection to the Quantum Wave Collapse supercomputer, and the wormhole power source, that she's existing in a persistent State of Uncertainty. Probably what she's describing as a sense of falling and accelerating towards something. (Note, Taraba describes it as manipulating Mental Space, but like Caerula he's limited by own understanding of Karmatron Dynamics/Wave Collapse). Desty Nova would better understand the exact effect she is creating, IMO.
So in this Uncertain State, she is fatally struck by Rakan, but has an instant to create a secondary wave pattern that solidifies into a reality where she avoids his attack entirely. Individuals with a high enough awareness can remember the previous reality, but interpret the effect based on their own lore.

That's my thinking, anyway.

Further, I predict that Alita will probably reappear whole and sound immediately after Toji's devestating attack.
Once Toji realizes he's really up against the Cheshire Cat, that fight'll pretty much be over.

The Sechs/Zekka fight is getting intriguing. I was sure that Sechs was going to lose that matchup, but now I'm not certain Alita will face Zekka at all.

Actually, Isidorios...that was a very good observation. I hadn't considered quantum wave collapse at all, despite the Fata Morgana, and I can only assume Melchizedek, being quantum computers. However, I stand by what I said about Vilma. Even Alita thought she'd died at that point, which would lead Vilma to think she'd died, as well.

Also, your cat observation. At the moment, Toji is the rat. However, if your quantum collapse analysis holds true, then Alita isn't the Cheshire Cat. She's Schrödinger's cat, existing in multiple states at once. If this analysis holds true, then it's possible that Kishiro pulled the wool over our eyes, making Shrody's cat an afterthought of Toji, rather than the Cheshire Cat, where he put Toji's focus.

Since we're on the note of cats, would this make Don Fua, the one who was truly content, the fatass cat? If so, I can see Toji eventually becoming Don Fua as a character. If you remember where Zekka went to smack Toji, he blocked because he was in a serene, wise state of mind. He said that "Don Fua was inside of him." Knowing Toji, it's not literal, given that every chapter with Toji is weighted with symbolism. I choose to believe that Toji's visions of Don Fua are given by his hugely profound respect for him. If Don Fua IS in Toji, however, then so be it.

I think Yukito Kishiro was alluding some sort of parallel between Schrödinger's Cat and the Cheshire Cat. I hadn't thought of Don Fua/Tunpo being the lazy Calico. It makes pretty good sense to me. And as far as Toji's interaction with him, I think it's really Don Fua's spirit. If he's really achieved some "higher plane", he might exist as a sentient quantum wave. The Arthur node of Mechelzidek alluded to the fact that the quantum vibrations of individuals continued to reverberate throughout the universe, and this might be this universe's explanation for ghosts like Don Fua and Colonel Payne.
So I'd say that Toji is actually interacting with Don Fua's quantum spirit, having been able to percieve him since whatever Zekka used on him. Remember that Zekka claims to have a combo attack that actually destroys someone physically AND spiritually. This might be an ability to silence someone's quantum wave/karmatron emission (very theoretical on my part). Zekka seemed to think that the move he used on Toji was going to annihilate him, and probably would have if not for Don Fua's intervention.

Could be that the final matchup will be Zekka/Alita after all, a Yin/Yang of Karmatron destruction/creation. I can't wait to find out.
And who knows what Erica is capable of after all this time?
