And been looking forward to the anniversary of the 100th edition in June.

I checked the rest of the blog out ( http://yukitolog.blogspot.com/ ). Apart from being asked to start using mac again instead of PC, as it seems he's been prefers microsoft (He goes off about Steve Jobs coz macs are a nightmare to clear up-I can agree there, can be a nightmare to defrag and clean out), what it seems like is that he got an email from the editor asking what is going on with the story. why is Ping younger looking than Mibadi, whats with the lines on their faces, what the hell does the english mean in the series,..etc... Seems like he might have been asked to rewrite/ justify a load of stuff.
It's a bit long, but I can put it up the blog if anyone wants.

Hey guys, Here's some info on the issue between Kishiro and Shueisha. It comes from manga-news.com and it's confirmed by Heiji-sama who is a really trustworthy guy, one of the guys who used to run Raw-paradise (R.I.P. Raw-paradise)

I merely translated it in english:

"Is Kishiro Yukito going to leave Shueisha? Indeed, last june 14th, the author posted a message on his blog, explaining that on the 7th of June, he received a phone call from his Tanto (editor) who was asking him to change 3 things in the new version of Gunm. Those three things are:

- change the word Hakkyô (発狂) in the first volume, because this word (which means madness) might refer to schizophrenia (According to shueisha, the ministry of justice would have agreed on this)
- change the word Hakkyô (発狂) in the 4th volume.
- Change the word psycho (in the sentence: Die, you fucking psycho) in the third volume).

The author disapproves of those changes. And he doesn't understand why this decision is taken now, whereas the series has been published for 10 years now. They kept discussing and had a meeting in Tokyo on the 16th. According to the author, this meeting ended up in a total "defeat". The three words are indeed going to be changed.

Japan is a country where foreign ppl is mostly openly called "gaijin", that is a term not much different from "dirty nigger". Intresting thing is that, according to a nigerian friend of minie, white ppl in Nigeria are often called with a word that can be translated "dirty white man".

Seems like only western ppl care about politically correct.

I was talking about the unrealistic impression of the manga-business some people have. I've been a manga fan for years and although I'm largely unfamiliar with how the business works I've heard several descriptions of it by others, many of which place the industry in a very positive light. Unfortunately some of them tend to do it in almost parodic terms. If you believe what certain people say the working situation for manga-ka's like Kishiro is absolutely perfect - supposedly there are no conflicts with editors whatsoever and they are allowed to do whatever they want all the time. Looking at Kishiro's current situation with Shueisha it should be clear that this overly idealistic view is not entirely true.

However, I think, YK has referred to the same problem in the end of the GLOv4 in a small comic (where he talks to the editor about changing the plot and gets shocked by his suggestion). He has to at least take in account the editor's opinion according to the plot and layout - we don't really know how much he had to change or even omit following the recommendations.

I think, we are witnessing a conflict of their plans right now. Hope it works out well, because the only two outcomes I can think about are:

1) YK drops the entire manga and goes to the nervous breakdown like he has before (period between BAAv9 and GLOv1)
2) He drops Shueisha and releases the manga in a stand-alone typography on a volume basis
3) He releases it in the internet, but uses donations (I think, this isn't less profitable - the fans are fans, after all)

Hope I'm wrong.

That's actually not really true. "Gaijin" is closer to "Black dude" or "Mexican". It can be interpreted in a negative way, but it's simply a descriptor, not an inherently derogatory term. If anything, Japanese people view foreigners as better and "cooler" because they're different (except maybe some of the old ones that remember WWII). You're right to say that they aren't politically correct when it comes to racial issues, but I personally find it refreshingly honest. They definitely don't have racial conflict on anywhere near the same scale that we do in the US.
