There is something I dont get about Victor Byron

How exactly did he become a vampire?

I mean, he was a crusader, and apparently dies hanged or killed himself, but its not stated how did that made him V mutant

In my opinion Byron is just the first of a natural mutation, he was born a vampire he just did not manifested the characteristic

He became a Type-V mutant after he survived a hanging.
Maybe a close to death experience can trigger the first "Altered Shock", so they can turn into a Type-V mutant?

I cannot say he was born a vampire, but one thing is certain: he was born a sob, believe me. His cruelty is unspeakable, to say the least. Unfortunately, such a character does exist in real world. It would be great if they were fruits of the imagination.

check volume 9.. page 70. viktor has bite marks on his neck. that means he was turned durning his battles sometime.

There are undoubtedly bite marks, what I think is that a Vampire bit him after he was hung and left for dead. In order to avoid drawing too much attention and not to increase the number of his fellows vampires a vampire may have fed off of corpses' blood, and what better place to find fresh dead bodies than a mass grave? Only Victor wasn't dead but in a coma due to being hung when he was bitten, which enabled him to survive and maybe smooth the shock of the transition.

If i don't recall bad, the whole point about the brief Victor's "how i become a vampire" flashback is that he was this honorable crusader with his strong faith in God, until when a random vampire passing by fed of him and left him alive due to lack of attention or by intention. Then he lost faith and went nuts blaming God to have "rewarded" faith with the encounter with the vampire and being deluded by his own fellow comrades that turned their backs to him and hang him when they found out he had turned into a vampire. Good enough to become grim, vengeanceful and develope a hate toward mankind who abandoned him.

also if you look closely, on v9 page 66. you can see victor's hands tied together (if they weren't, shouldn't they be by his side?)
