For those who wants something similar to battle angel (cyberpunk, post apocalyptic) kind of series with a kick ass heroine.
I heavily recommend Legends of Mother Sarah. It is a story about a Woman who was separated from her husband and children in a space city somewhere and then years later the earth planet soil can't create vegetation making a world a wasteland and chaos occurs with a similar feel like mad max. Give it a chance (IF you have the time as Battle Angel Alita fans will like it)

Sand Land (if you accept its simplistic fun nature) and fist of the north star is another post apocalyptic are also enjoyable. Pluto is as well(ignoring its really terrible ending). I also hear good stuff about X/1999
