Phase 70 Translation Script

Post by newbieff »

and here it is... i am fairly confident this time for the quality, it should be about 80% to 90% correct (i even compared some place with the japanese version with a dictionary!)
some of the spot have been rephrased to, imo, give it a better flow to the dialogue, but if it seems incorrect, then let me know
P1
Right text: I can still
Left text: keep growing
The arrow pointing the hand: “bare hand catching the blade”
The square of text in the bottom: (recap of the previous episode)

P2
Right text: Jupiter Jupiter Jupiter Federation system moving their bodies with a “kachak kachak kachak” sound, every citizen is a cyborg
Left text: let’s run, Sanders! Let’s yell, Dynamo!
A planetary union(?) that has vast fortunes
The world’s (don’t know the word here), Jupiter people
Oh Oh~, we are a cyborg people
[Jovian children’s song]

P3
No text

P4
Tikhonov: ?!

Commentator right: that was a loud sound!! Can victory be announced now?!
Commentator left: right now, the whole arena has been distorted!

Commentator X: after being hit by the Jupiter Mixer, has Sechs Sensei being disintegrated?!
Commentator Y: the rotating motion has stopped now and the dust are settling.

P5
Sechs: I am not afraid of revolving motions! (don’t know if this is correct)

P6
Announce: Unbelievable!
Announce: It is the huge sphere that has been destroyed!

Tikhonov: im…..impossible!
Commentator: the pictures coming from the camera are out!
Commentator 2: oh, oh

Commentator: in 2.2 seconds after the mixer has been activated, Sechs moved to the upper center
Commentator: against Jupiter Mixer’s only safe place, and also its only weak point
P7
Commentator: just like the [eye of the storm]
Rotating techniques are most powerful and has the best defense in the equator, and at the same time, the extremity… the axis can be considered to be its biggest weakness.

Commentator: Sechs himself is also a skilled user of rotating techniques, and thus he knows the strength and weaknesses of it.

Commentator: what happened here?!
Commentator: Sechs became instantly fat…?! He….he expanded?!

Commentator: He instantly returned to his normal shape!
Commentator: at the same time, he uses a powerful impact to destroy the giant sphere

P8
Commentator: Amazing! Diet Punch~!
Sechs: It is called Expansion Punch!

Zekka: from using the energy of expanding and then shrinking to achieve an impact strength that is thousands times more powerful

Zekka: this little kid~ did he find the secrets to controlling the fidgeroy (spelling? I am too lazy to go thru previous volumes)

Zekka?: self expanding and contracting successfully in an error range of nanoseconds is not as easy as it seems.

Zekka?: even for me, it took 4 years…however
Zekka: he is just still in a very infant stage

*footnotes: Nanoseconds (ns)…one hundredth million part(10^-9) of a second

P9
Tikhonov: It is surprising that you found the Undo Key
Tikhonov: everyone, don’t forget that Urbano is just the first form of Omen 609

P10
Announce: Omen 609 second form
(ok, I have no idea what it means and could not find anything related sounding)
Announce: U-a-i-na Ba-ri-e-tsu! (I ll just call it uaina from here on)
P11
Sechs: Sechs Special
Sechs: Plasma
Sechs: Boost!!

P12
(no text)

P13
Tik: to the Electromagnetic Ramjet 100mm APFS rounds, Electro Magnetic pulse jamming is useless
Tik: the Ramjet APFS rounds can maintain a sound barrier breaking speed to achieve long range shooting
Tik: it is designed to bring down a CIWS missile that is going at space velocity

Tik: it will be a Search and Kill to every single moving object

Footnotes:
Ramject APFS rounds: referring to the armor piercing rounds that went thru a combustion boosting. Normal bullets, after leaving the barrel, will be slowed down by air friction as it travels, the ramjet APFS, on the other hand, can maintain a sound breaking barrier to achieve long range shooting

CIWS: Close In Weapon System. Abbreviation for a close range weapon defense system

P14
Commentator: Sechs got killed…
Commentator II: no! wait

Commentator: that is!?

P15
No text

P16

Sechs: just what I thought, the digital sensors cannot distinguish between my real body and plasma

Commentator: The plasma decoys are disappearing
Commentator: It is the EMP effect

Sechs: oh shit…
Footnotes:
EMP: Electro Magnetic Pulse, a weapon used to disabling electronic devices or paralyzing nervous systems

P19
Sechs: tsk
Sechs: just when I was having fun…

The Hand: am I interrupting?

Sechs: no matter

P20
Sechs: I already knew you would come
Zazie: hng

P21
Commentator: Martian Warrior Zazie
Commentator: Space Angel’s powerful reinforcement has come!

Zazie: please excuse me, I am going to end this now
Zazie: there is not much time left

P22
Commentator: Uaina seems to be strange?!
Tik: what happened, please respond, Uaina Barietsu
Commentator: Uaina is completely weakened and falls to the ground

P23
Sechs: Chance!
Zazie: wait!
Zazie: it is dangerous to approach now

Zazie: the sniping shots I just made, I used a special bullet collection of mine
Zazie: nowadays, you can only find those in some special areas in mars and in some small meteors

P24
Commentator: what is this?! What happened to Uaina

P25
Tik: that is….that is Bezerker
Tik: That is so inhumane… injecting bezerker cells into the body of Uaina?!

Commentator: Bezerker! That was a nanomachine weapon used by Venus in the war two hundreds years ago
Commentator: (lots of technicality here) it can absorb the surrounding materials to increase and form itself
Commentator: in addition to the atomic bomb, Trioxin 245, Antimaterial bomb, and PIPT, it can be called the five devil’s invention of humankind

Footnotes:
Trioxin 245: a gas that zombifies(?) corpses, it was researched in 1969, by the US army
PIPT: Parasitic Intention Plant Troopers, a synthetic organic weapon that is parasitic

P26
Sechs: what the hell are you thinking in strengthening the enemy?!
Zazie: Don’t Panic

Zazie: after the war has ended, there are a lot of unexploded missiles, mines and bezerker cells

P27
No text

P28
Zazie: now, the bezerker cells has been fully analyzed
Zazie: neutralizing bullets has been invented already

P29
Zazie: and I am a Bezerker hunter with a rank A license!!

Text in the left: a strong ally enters the arena!!
edit: some grammar and changed nuclear weapon to atomic bomb on P25 (which i assume is what it meant originally)

Mentioned this on the chapter 69 thread, Wohmen/Omen should be War-men.

And about Vainah Barietsu. All references I found about Vainah are to the Viner/Wiener last names. Can't seem to find anything on Barietsu, just wild guessing could be Bariets, Barietz, Variets, Varietz, whatever.

Typesetting is almost done.

But still, Vaina Barietsu irritates me. What could the real name be?

That's not smth in Russian (IF Jovians speaks russian since they have russian surnames).

It sure can mean smth like "The Warrior" (Uaina - Vojna "a war", Barietsu - Boretz "a warrior"), but spelling and translation is far~ too~ wrong, It's hard to think of example how wrong it is, but you'd better believe me - it doesn't make any sence.
If you think that this may be it - this what Kishiro tried (using dictionary) to say, you'd better change the name of this device to "Vityaz" - it's the best word for "warrior" we have and one of the best names for some huge and deathly weapons or tanks, or mashines.

Barietsu can also mean a person from Bali, Indonesia (Balietz) or Bari, Italy (Barietz).
Uaina Piсchu is a mountain near Machu-Picchu.
But this still doesn't make any sence either.

And I'm afraid to think of it, but "バレエ" is "a Ballet"... That means that name of this device could be something as horrible as "War-Ballet" I'd shit with bricks if I saw something called like this... And if some native speaker actually named some device "Vojna-Balet" or "Voenny Balet" (a ballet of war) I'd shit with golden bricks from fear.

I beg you to call it anything but the names that I mentioned (they're horrible), or to call it "Vityaz", or to think that this is not russian name.

I hope I was useful. :D

Well, if you go by how japanese try to pronounce something using katakana and how different they sound in reality sometimes they're really close, other times something completely different.

Take for example phase 69 with Tikhonov's cat Serdtse. The katakana pronounce it Cheruvi vs Serdtse. I found Cheruvi = heart in russian because I stumped into a japanese page with examples of common words in different languages and their supposed pronunciation in katakana, most of them didn't come close to the real sound, lol. I picked the original russian "cердце" in cyrillic and came up with Serdtse in this case. This is an example of how far the japanese katakana can sound from the real deal.

If you consider Vojna Boretz, Vojna-Balet, or Vityaz a possible romanization of the name, it might be right. You have to take any foreign term written by a Japanese author with a grain of salt. They tend to pick up a dictionary and write down whatever they think sounds cool. I've been reading another manga named Übel Blatt and native German speakers complain how all the German terms sound stupid or make no sense at all.

Page 1: Missing the name of the phase

Page 2-3: The line at the bottom at the page, to the right is missing

Phase 69 and 70 are probably being released tomorrow. So now it´s last chance for changes.

Page 1: Missing the name of the phase

Super fast progress or super fast development

Page 2-3: The line at the bottom at the page, to the right is missing

Jupiter Federation's fierce attack against Sechs outcome was...!?

Whoa~ I didn't noticed that (cuz I saw raws) :D You did the right thing backthere.
(*)Chervi is hearts in playing cards, they cannot be used in single (means you cannot name someone like that)

Yes. This is the real problem... Do you think we should make a site to help autors to pick up a good-looking names?

Don't you think that 'Cheruvi' might be the Katakana of 'Cherub'? Cherubim and Seraphim are layers of existence of angelic beings, with origins in Judaism, and the corresponding beings are called 'Cherub' and 'Seraph' respectively.

Nope, Cherubim is written ケルビム (Kerubimu), whereas we already know Jupiter uses Russian for most of their stuff and the cat's name is written チェールヴィ (Chehruvi).

But now that I look back at the translation and Hepar's comments. I think Kishiro's choice was really to use Chervi (hearts shape in card games) rather than Serdtse. Although Hepar pointed out Chervi can't be used in singular or names, but do Japanese ever make sense of foreign terms?

You can name it "Chervonetz" (m) if you want to make some sense (though it has a different meaning). :D But "Serdtze" is fine too, since other alternatives are too long and strange-looking for non native speakers.
If I was to translate this chapter in Russian I'd make a pun, naming this cat "Edinitza Chervej" - "One of Hearts" (like "Ten of Hearts" or "Queen of Hearts"), because there's no such card at all, but the way it sounds is rather cute.
