TEST ANIMATION

Post by gilsand »

Just seeing if I have the right "flavor" to it. I think I got the color palet, and music correct. Only 44 seconds.

That sequence on Mars did mark me, especially because it introduces Erica, Gerda and young Yoko.

Hello Sergio,
Yes, just getting the "feel", or atmosphere correct took a lot of thought.
Sorry bout not answering in a timely manner. Monday I took a fall and broke my arm.
I was walking the Doberman in the wilderness area when I Slipped. Being in the middle
of nowhere, and no phone service, I had to depend on myself.
I pulled on the hand and set the bone, I used my shoe laces and bamboo sticks to splint my arm.
Took an hour to get to my car and drive myself to Emergency at the VA Hospital.
They put a metal plate and screws to keep my arm together.

I started Last Order cause I now have plenty of free time to devote to it..
Here is the latest update, Nova's voice is distorted, sorry bout that.
Any suggestions for BG Music?
take care,

Such problems are really serious. I hope you'll soon he boxing.

I'll run the risk and suggest Philip Glass's Powaqqatsi (last track, with the same title).
I believe you know the meaning of the Hopi word, and the music seems the encase perfectly in the scene.

"living off the Mother Earth with no love in return", or a parasite is what I was told.
I am a Yaqui, but the expression in known. Since you asked,
Here it is:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoLfD5h3RAA
Utube messed the sound and the begining, but I think it fits well!
These are ones with music from "The Symphonic Music of Pink Floyd"
"Nobody Home" (Waters):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynD4YpHv6ik
"The Great Gig in the Sky" (Wright):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77Yj_b4owSs

Would love to hear any comments.

I had referred to the last track.

I am aware you're a Yaqui, but since Godfrey Reggio's great film, even Brazilians know the word.
Anyway, once a Powaqqatsi is a sort of parasite, I think it is perfect to refer to the Neo-Thrid Reich division. I see terrorists of that sort as social vampires, and thus I meant it would encase perfectly.

Oh, yes: The Great Gig in the Sky is always a good option.

Apologies, I have already "DOWNED" my servers, but I will check that out, do a quick edit and repost it!
That one fits very well, good choice!

Hello again Sergio,
Here is the re-edit and latest art to date.
It was a great suggestion! 8)

Well, you changed the works. You used Koyaanisqatsi, while I had suggested Powaqqatsi.

The first is a contemplative work, while the second is aggressive.

Take a look here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?6f3h59aucnkdm4l

Actually, this is 4min 34sec long. It has a bass voice and a children choir repeating one single word (powaqqatsi). It is a sort of curse.
Do you intend to include Erica and Gerda in your animation? I believe the final result would be perfect. To simplify, I remembered Powaqqatsi the moment I saw the military boot kicking little Yoko.

We will go as far as is realistic for me to attempt.
If I can get the elements figured out in animating the sequence for Gerda's entry.
It might work as this whole thing is a learning process.
Each sequence I have done has been better than the previous, so if I can continue that, Yeah, sure. U-Tube is quirky also, it keeps messing up the volume levels.
Here it is withe the music you sent!

The sound is really a problem. While the voices are loud, the music is almost inaudible. I even converted the video to VCD, but it was the same result. Which format did you make it? Would you upload the original? If I understood the sound problem does not exist in the original video.

I will remix and upload again, and also to my PhotoBucket account. U-tube appears to be corrupting the audio.
That way you can get an uncorrupted mix. I will try to have it loaded by this afternoon.
Have a great day. Stereo only.

Sergio, greetings.
I found the issues, unfortunatly I am going to have to recreate all dialog.
My DAT Recorder is dead :( .
I will have to use the Computers Sound board, so that will limit me a bit.
I also removed the "Rumble" track for the subwoofer. You will hear still distortion
on this voice track (after Nova sez delicious), but now I know the cause.
The video is in WMF so it should be bearable.
Got a Hospital visit tomorrow, so I won't be able
to change things quickly as all my stuff is rack mounted.

Thank you for your help :geek:

Sergio, good morning and happy Friday! :D
I ment to have this newest Test posted, but I had to spend a little longer time under anatheshia.
I recovered most of the sound, and thanks for your help.
I will attempt to continue this "project", but today is going to be spent under a dose of Morphine and nothing is going to get done ;)
Hope you have a great weekend.

Greetings Sergio,
I just uploaded a Mpeg (DVD Format) Dolby AC3 sound test.
If you would, please let me know if you can see and hear it correctly.
As you can hear I have some help with the voices, but they raised a good question and now I am not sure.
In the VIZ translation the dogs name is cocoa,
but in the Japanese version, the dog is really named Hershey. :?
Plus the dialog reads like Yoko talks first,
Then Erica finishes with, "Hershy? You had a dog? Wow!".
Also we think we should go with Galle (Gary)... or Alita? :?:
Would like to hear your thoughts,
Almost got the pacing of this video to the music complete.
Thanks again for your time and help,

A green bird told me Viz translators were suffering of Parkinson. That explains why so many names were absurdly changed.
I vote for maintaining the original names. Thus, Gally and Hershey will do. By the way, the descending angel's name is Gerda.
I hate to be redundant, but I have to repeat your work is great.

Sergio,
Eu espero que você está tendo um dia fantástico!
I wanted to post this tonight as I will be "In Hospital" for a while. ;-(*)
Once again thanks for your advice, Gally, Hershey, and Gerda (which makes more sense than Gelda), are the correct names to use.
Yes, I dug out the old language books from High School, I had forgotten how so alike Spanish, Italian and Portuguese are. I just might try and re-learn this again as so much makes sense to me.
Ciao e tenha um bom fim de semana.

Que surpresa! Você até escreve em português.

I hope your visit to the hospital is a simple routine. Or are you going to give them any sort of assistance?

HOLA Sergio,
Just got back from the Hospital.
This is just a test, but since you had a good
suggestion for music last time, what do you think will fit the next chapter?

Well, as everyone here is aware, I love Erica, the strongest character presented in the entire series (what makes me worry about Frau X's ideology, certainly).

Remebering that Erica, in this sequence, is considering her and Yoko's death, and praying God to throw Phobos and Deimos on the militaries, I think that Goodbye cruel world will fit perfectly. The music is a lament, and the lyrics reflect the scenery. I would recommend Roger Water's solo version live in Berlin. It is a punch in the stomach:

Sergio,
Forgive me my use of english, but it is for clarity only. :-)
This music also fits for the long portion of the "walk".
Then "good bye crule world" fits wonderfully at the dramatic moment!

Well, you changed Goodbye cruel world for Goodbye blue sky.
Was it intentional or an accident? Coincidentally or not, it fits pretty well.
