good news for BAA, I guess

Post by Martin »

try buying some of the recent graphic novels on Amazon...a lot of them are going for 100 bucks a pop?!?!

Good news that some 500 page editions are coming out next year.

What are you talking about?

As to the price, either the responsible employee was sleeping or it must be a sort of promotion like "buy a printed graphic novel and gain an e-book reader."

I think he means the omnibuses which Kodansha will release to bring their readers up to speed on LO, e.g. http://www.randomhouse.com/book/221939/ ... to-kishiro

I wonder what the 2 original stories never published in English are. It could be Another Stories or some of the pre-Gunnm work.

I think the prices are just an indicator of demand. A lot of the recent issues as used books are in the $30s-40s. That is crazy to me. I don't think the people who set the prices give it any thought besides..."those sold fast, raise the price until people stop buying them."

It is funny to me, but I am pretty sure that BAA grabs people. Plus a James Cameron plug every 6 months or so can't hurt. It just seems to have a strange after the fact interest...probably an indicator of lack of support/marketing from publisher.

It blows my mind that there is now about 2x Last Order as there was original arc. It feels like just yesterday when I was lamenting that it was over...OK it feels like a million years ago.

From the synopsis, it seems they are republishing LO 01. As to the "never published stories in English" they have Holy Night, The Sonic Finger, Homecoming and Bashaku Ondo. As they say to be publishing only two…

Kishiro has several works which were pre-Gunnm, including the Hito compilation. Outrigger and Iron Fist also come to mind. There is an English version of War-Men available and Bugbuster is a volume, which would be too long. However publishing one of the Another Stories side stories would make sense since it would be more relevant to LO. What I would really like to see translated is the Gunnm Works bonus material from the Complete Edition since the only non-Japanese version it's in that I'm aware of is in French.

You are right. The advertisement does not say "Alita stories", but "Yukito's".
