I just watched this trailer by chance and it totally looks like they ripped off Arthur's back story.
Earth is in a constant winter, few survivors live in underground shelters. Of course there are no vampires--only lunatics that want to kill everyone, yeah...
Ok, influences are omnipresent in art but judging by the trailer, this seems pretty blatant. It's not the first time Hollywood took ideas from Manga/Anine (e.g. Hunger Games -> Battle Royale or some Snow White & the Huntsman scenes). Nothing wrong with that, but credit where credit is due.

Re: The Colony
Indeed, one can definitely see things that look alike. However both Kishiro and the screenwriter for this movie may have been inspired by the same source. I am not familiar with sci-fi but the never ending winter may be a recurring theme.
Nonetheless my curiosity is peeked.
Has anyone seen it?

Et le coureur à bout de force ... fut accuelli par une tempête de tollés!!!
Re: The Colony
Sorry I see the similarity but don't agree that theree migth be a connection , I mean this is just another close space horror story, the ice is just to explain why there are few people, and why the figth in close space. Don't see anything special about this flick. Is too generic to be make a comperison.
