Is he actually dead (Last Order)?
Aga m'Badi that is. He must have realized that there were several Nova copies, and thus means to backup himself, brain and biochips and all.
Re: Is he actually dead (Last Order)?
We saw him being killed, I doubt that YK is going to "resurect him".
Re: Is he actually dead (Last Order)?
So we did with Nova, who is an ally with Mbadi. Sounds weird that Super Nova didn't set up a nano recovery system in Ieru too, despite the nanotech forbiddance, so, why shouldn't he have extended the system to Mbadi's safeguard? But then, on the BAALO final an important amount of time have passed between the end of ZOT and the visit of the grounders to Ieru, and no Mbadi is around, so we can assume he is dead for good.
Re: Is he actually dead (Last Order)?
By the way, where is part one of chapter 006? It's almost time for part 2!

Re: Is he actually dead (Last Order)?
We can't assume that Mbadi knew about the numerous Novas running around and we don't know how much Super Nova told Mbadi. Nova is a survivor and he likely even foresaw that Mbadi might not last, which was why he went to Mars. Super Nova would also need a lot of motivation and return to give someone else the capability of being deathproof.
Also, Mbadi up until late in the ZOTT thinks he is invincible. He is immortal and no one can touch his hacking. His death by Caerula though is pretty definitive - head and brain diced into multiple fragments and sucked out into the vacuum of space. Ain't no coming back from that.

Re: Is he actually dead (Last Order)?
Yup, I think so, too. Caerula's technique is perfect. It is almost impossible to escape her deadgate attack. Only Alita has managed to escape from her twinblades. Mbadi was a competent fighter and he had his hackingskills but he wasn't in the same League as Alita, let alone Caerula, who is arguebaly an even better fighter than Alita. She was in a way her master. Without Caerula, there would never have been a panzerkunst.AR-99 wrote:We can't assume that Mbadi knew about the numerous Novas running around and we don't know how much Super Nova told Mbadi. But besides that, Mbadi lost two of his brainchips and with it probably a lot of his strenght. However, Who's brainchip is that second brainchip that Supernova has inside his skull? Is it a back-up chip with Mbadi's memory, is it dr. Warez his chip or could it be a combination of both?

Re: Is he actually dead (Last Order)?
Both Supernova brainchips are his own.
Nova always have 2 brainchips, one in his head, one in his modified abdomen, in case his head is destroyed (see BAA #9).
They don't act simultaneously, the head one is active, the other one is backup. But each of them is a fully functional Nova's mind.
Supernova "broke the taboo" activating both brainchips at once, and so working with his mind redundantely and, we may guess, improving either his QI or the avarage speed of his thinking.
About Mbady, all 3 chips in his brain are someone else's. He has no brain chip of his own, since he still have his biological mathusalized brain.

Re: Is he actually dead (Last Order)?
^Actually I've been puzzling over where Super Nova got his 2nd bio chip. Have to check and see if Super Nova mentioned where he got the 2nd chip. The thing is, Jim killed the original Nova and got both chips. Alita kept one, Ping got the other. Ping used his to create Porta Nova. The Nova that Mbadi captured was the one that showed up with Elf and Zwolf as a creation of stereotomy. Maybe it's not clear to me that stereotomy recreates Nova with the backup chip in his stomach as well? Which would mean that all the Novas that were getting spit out all had backup chips, maybe even the dumbed down versions.
Mbadi was not from Tiphares so he was never issued a brain chip (remember that only Tipharean adults get them and the forehead tattoo, and all Tiphareans are genetically engineered). He jacked the chips of the GENE Project survivors including Vares (this was the first chip, Vares himself convinced Mbadi to do this to get back from Pluto). This was why he was calling himself Trinidad. Tunpo destroyed all 3 chips, making Mbadi nearly useless since most of his abilities were derived from his hacking and the thinking power of the chips.D3sty wrote: But besides that, Mbadi lost two of his brainchips and with it probably a lot of his strenght. They do, most certainly. Maybe the nova decoys have 1 only, but all standard Novas have 2.Which would mean that all the Novas that were getting spit out all had backup chips, maybe even the dumbed down versions.
The 2 brainchips Roscoe has where recovered from the istance of Nova he killed. The corpse have 2 evident wounds, the smashed head and a disemboweled stomach.
The istance of Nova who climb the orbital lift with Alita, later Supernova, is the one rigenerated after Roscoe killed the former istance who was his mentor. And he has his own 2 brain chips, which, he, later, host in his skull both at the same time, having them work parallely.

Re: Is he actually dead (Last Order)?
I always thought that Mbadi had 3 brain chips in addition to his natural brain? Can't find book right now and running late. 2 or 3 that the monk took all. I think this is important because he probably would be adverse to the idea of a back up chip if he still had his natural brain.
I also thought that Super Nova had two duplicate chips, mimicking Trinidad's/Vares setup. He obviously has no problem over recreating himself, but I usually conclude that anything Nova does should be considered distateful and something that most people would not do.
Obviously, Nova and Mbadi are always highly probable candidates for returns...

Re: Is he actually dead (Last Order)?
Mbadi is not Salemite, he has no brain chip of his onw and he retained his biological brain exactly where it belongs
The three chips hosted in his cranium are from 3 distinct Salemite geniuses ascended through the orbital lift, one is Vares, the other 2 aren't mentioned.
Nova should have been the 4th, and probably Roscoe would have been the 5th if Nova didn't mess things with Salem.
Yet Mbadi decided not to merge nova's (main) brainchip with his mind due to the chotic nature of his personality. (It's all crearly stated in the volumes).
Then Supernova shows up, but Nova was sliced to pieces by Mbady right after the met at the lift.
We must presume Mbadi replicated Nova's body with a Venusian bioprinter and put back the brainchips in it. Both of them, since the 2 Supernova's brainchips are the main and the backup brainchips from the Nova who climbed the lift.
Now, why there are so many Nova's brainchip around?
As far as we know, for the whole BAA arc and until he was back in Salem, Nova never duplicated himself. On the surface he had 2 brainchips (main and backup). We don't know how or when he aquired the second, but he have had it for some time.
That same nova got to Salem in the 1 year gap from BAA and BAALO, He started the nanorecovery system upon himself and revealed the "Secret of Salem" 1 week before Alita was revived (BAALO), causing the Salemite population go mad.
Roscoe killed that Nova and revocovered his chips (2 chips so far)
The Nanorecovery System activated and a brand new nova, with 2 new brainchip was made. (4 chips so far)
Nova climb the orbital lift and the Nanorecovery System missread his absence from Salem like an occourrance of his dead and Flan Nova was generated (6 brainchips so far)
After Mbady killec Nova and dispose of Alita's replicas (including the official Alita) Alita has 2 brainchips from Roscow and gives one to Ping Wu (Porta-nova) and keeps the other. Mbadi has 2 brainchip from the nova who climbed the lift. Flan Nova has 2, active in himself.
In the end Mbadi returns 2 nova's brainchip to his regenerated body,
